Ava Gold Winner
Grand Rapids, MI—Day of Discovery has won a 2010 Ava Gold Award for the 89-minute video production “The War Within: Finding Hope for Post-Traumatic Stress.” Seventeen hundred entries were submitted from throughout the United States, Canada and several other countries.
The Ava Awards are sponsored and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). The international organization consists of several thousand production, marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, and freelance professionals. Judges are industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.
Winners were selected from over 160 categories in three divisions: Television Productions, Video/Film Productions and Web/New Media. Approximately 12 percent of the entries won the Gold Award. A complete list of Gold Winners can be found on the Ava Awards website at www.avaawards.com.
The documentary “The War Within” from Day of Discovery records the journey of marine veteran Phil Downer and army veteran Mike Wilkins. Through revealing their struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder and the struggles their wives faced, they offer hope for military veterans and their families.
